BACKGROUND
I am a licensed psychotherapist with over 20 years of diverse, professional experience. Since I spent the majority of my career practicing in the melting pot of New York City, I have worked with clients with variations in race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, political affiliations, and professional /personal backgrounds. I have extensive experience treating a variety of issues such as mood and anxiety disorders, stress/anger management, bereavement/loss, relationship problems, and trauma. I am eclectic in my orientation and offer an integrative approach to client-centered therapy, using traditional psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral techniques, to individuals, couples, and families.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology at the University of Albany. I graduated with my Master’s degree in Social Work from Smith College. I have worked at community mental health agencies in the NYC area such as Catholic Charities, providing individual, couples, and family therapy. I also have experience with group therapy modalities, leading anger management, women’s support and caregiver’s support groups, as well as adolescent socialization groups. Additionally, I provided clinical supervision for over 8 years to several other mental health providers and graduate students in the field.
Throughout my years of practice, I have attended numerous workshops, seminars and conferences, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eclectic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ECBT) Bereavement, Anxiety and Mood Disorders, Couples Therapy, and Trauma and Recovery. Over the past 20 years, I’ve realized that the greatest learning opportunities come from working with people. I truly enjoy those experiences of connection and growth while “collaborating” with you to face these personal challenges together.
